Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has opened up about her struggles with her pregnancy complications in a video posted on her and her partner Zion's Instagram.
To provide the "best chance of survival" for her twins, Jesy Nelson is undergoing an urgent operation while pregnant.
Following their announcement earlier this year that they were expecting twins, the 33-year-old singer and her 26-year-old partner, Zion Foster, have been updating her fans on her pregnancy in recent weeks.
Jesy said a few days ago that she has been having "complications" since she is expecting identical twins. Her pre-stage twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) was disclosed to her followers at the time.
In a video message on Instagram yesterday, she disclosed that she is awaiting surgery to give her unborn children "the best chance of surviving." In the heartwarming video, which was shot when Jesy was in the hospital, Zion assisted.
In a tearful state, the Little Mix star said:
"Hey guys, so we are just giving you an update on our situation. So I've been feeling a bit poorly like the past few days. Been having a few of the symptoms that I need to watch out for - which is like my belly tightening, struggle breathing.
"So today we came into the hospital to just have a check-up basically. Just in case. And unfortunately the symptoms have got [sic] worse so we now have to have ... they have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen."
She added: "But it's necessary because it's gonna give our babies like the best chance of surviving. So yeah, we're just waiting to go in. And we're just hoping and praying for the best really. I feel gutted.
"I feel absolutely gutted because I really was hoping that we wouldn't even be in this position."
Zion Foster, Jesy's companion, comforted her while she was crying, saying:
"They're doing it to give us the best chance. Our babies the best chance."
She said: "Yeah, like that's why they do this procedure. So that it literally gives you the best chance of your baby surviving but it's obviously just really scary cause there's so many things that can happen"
She said she wanted to keep followers updated and asked for their prayers as she ended the video.
She concluded: "We just wanted to update you guys. Keep you in the loop with what's going on. So yeah just pray for us please. Thank you."
When Jesy revealed that she was having twins in an Instagram post on January 12, her fans were first made aware of her pregnancy.
A picture of her and Zion was posted, showing him standing behind her and holding her baby belly. Jesy teased, "She's eating for 3 now," with the picture. Fans and other celebrities congratulated them on the news, and they received a flurry of good wishes on the site.
