After being officially married for just weeks, Toni Braxton and her longtime on-and-off beau, Birdman, filed for divorce. Here is everything we know so far.

According to a report published by TMZ on April 10, 2025, the Un-Break My Heart singer and the record producer tied the knot on August 8, 2024. However, just two weeks later, Braxton filed for divorce from her new husband, saying their marriage was "irretrievably broken."

She cited their date of separation as August 10, 2024—just two days after their wedding.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Braxton reportedly dismissed her divorce filings. The two are still legally married because Birdman, aka Bryan Christopher Williams, supported Braxton’s decision to drop the divorce.

But because the two are infamously private, the details of their union remain unclear. They don’t post each other on social media, and Braxton doesn’t wear her wedding ring, valued at $1 million, in public.

In 2018, Braxton spoke openly about her platonic bond with Birdman, which she said deepened during her battle with lupus.

She said in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE:

"He’s been my bestie for like 15 or 16 years. He has come to my baby showers, my plays, my shows. I never thought we would be dating or getting married."

She spoke about him being the biggest part of her support system. She said:

"In 2016, I was doing a little tour just testing the market [to see] how far my endurance could go – and I got ill just before we went out.
"Every day I had a show, he came. Every night he would ask me, ‘Are you okay? Are you good?’ I said, ‘Oh my God, he’s such a great guy!'"

She said that when he finally told her how he felt, he revealed that he had always liked her. The only reason he never said anything was that she was married at the time.

In an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Birdman went on to talk about the singer a year later.

He said: "T, that's my girl, my friend, my family… that's my love, my soldier, my life. She's my life. I love her to death."

After a whirlwind romance, the rapper proposed to Braxton in 2018, and she said yes!

However, the pair split up a while later in 2019, suggesting the engagement was short-lived. After staying separated for a while, the R&B singer and Birdman got back together in 2023.

Braxton had initially denied the rumors about their marriage, declaring it as #FAKENEWS in a post on Instagram. She wrote:

"My dear friend @birdman and I are not married...never been married. We are both single."

While the news about them being married was false in 2023, they were married just a year later.

The two have deleted all of their pictures from their social media, seemingly after their divorce filings in August 2024.

For Birdman, this was his first marriage. He does, however, have grown children—son Bryan Williams Jr. and daughter Bria—with his ex-girlfriend, Tia.

Braxton, on the other hand, had previously been married to singer Keri Lewis from 2001 to 2013. She has two sons with him: Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis and Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis.
