K-pop group THE BOYZ finally announced their highly awaited comeback through a full album called "Unexpected". The full album will come out on March 17, 2025, at 6 PM KST. The group's debut major project as a member of their new agency, ONE HUNDRED, after leaving IST Entertainment.

The transition to a new managing agency has been a huge shock for the group, and every member of the 11-member group has signed individual contracts with ONE HUNDRED in December of 2024. By the contract, THE BOYZ keeps its original group title, promising consistency for fans and holding on to its established brand within the music scene.

To ONE HUNDRED and Trademark Agreement

It was in December 2024 when it became public that THE BOYZ turned to ONE HUNDRED after they negotiated terms with their past agency, IST Entertainment. As part of the transfer, they agreed on joint rights to the trademark of the name of the group so that THE BOYZ may still be using the same brand name. The transfer granted the fans, the guarantee that there would not be any threat to the business and artistic presence of the group even if there had been a switch of agency.

"Unexpected" – THE BOYZ's Third Full-Length Album

THE BOYZ's new album, "Unexpected," is their third studio album and comes after their last single, "Last Kiss", which was released under IST Entertainment in November 2024. This album is to feature the changing music trend and art style of the band with their new management.

Though details about the theme of the album and tracklist are being kept secret, the name "Unexpected" suggests a new direction or new elements in their music. The album will present their artistic evolution without losing the distinctive style that has attracted a committed global fan base to them.

Sangyeon's enlistment and group activities effects

Under the compulsory military service requirement of South Korea, group leader Sangyeon will join on March 17, 2025, shortly after the album's release. He will be playing with the Army band. The joining will be a temporary shift in group activity since THE BOYZ will have to adapt to a ten-member show until he rejoins.

Although an official announcement has yet to come regarding the future hiring of other members, Sangyeon's departure is a benchmark for the group as they reorganize their schedule with a new lineup.

New social media accounts

As part of the transition to ONE HUNDRED, the members of the boy band have launched new official social media accounts on major platforms, including:

YouTube Instagram TikTok X (formerly Twitter)

These websites try to increase fan engagement through posting updates regularly, special content, and behind-the-scenes content related to their upcoming projects. His rebranding effort by the agency has witnessed efforts to build a new online identity without alienating its global fan base.

Fan expectations and industry responses

Industry observers and fans in general are following the boy band's signing with ONE HUNDRED closely and what this means for their future releases. With their consistent build-up of popularity over the years, much is anticipated of "Unexpected," with most forecasting clear musical growth under their new agency.

Moreover, how they are going to ensure that there is no letdown on the fronts of consistency in branding, performance standards, and collective dynamics after agency change will determine their success further. With the new album, THE BOYZ is all set to re-assert itself within the K-pop space while embarking on newer creative frontiers.
