A report in NME mentioned that MAD will be their 28th studio album and the first to be shared on their new label home, Transgressive Records. The duo have also released their new single, Drowned In A Sea Of Tears. In an interview with Variety, Ron speaks about the track,

“We do try to have some level of seriousness below the surface of even the song that are humorous, but” leaning into wit “is something I think that sets us apart from most other bands. So it’s almost harder to write the lyrics for a song like ‘Drowned in a Sea of Tears,’ where you are expressing something” sans irony.

His brother Russell added,

in ‘Drowning in a Sea of Tears,’ it’s a lost relationship sort of song, and I think even in having something that’s been a tried and true subject in pop music forever, we can find fresh ways of conveying those sorts of topics too. There is kind of also a real serious tone to the video, but there are some moments in it that have some sort of eerie elements that might make you smile, too - despite someone drowning in a sea of tears.”

Drowning in a Sea of Tears and their other single, JanSport Backback, are a part of their upcoming album MAD, which will be released in May through Transgressive Records. According to the official website of Transgressive Records, the album will feature up to 12 tracks. They have been in the music industry for reportedly five decades since they first formed the band in Los Angeles in 1970, Last.fm stated.
