There will also be two concerts in Tokyo, on August 9, 2025, and on August August 10, 2025, respectively. The concert in South Korea took place earlier this year on January 11, 2025, and January 12, 2025, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea.

The series of concerts was first started back in 2008, with SM Entertainment setting the first series of concerts in that year in Thailand, the People's Republic of China, and South Korea respectively.

The success of the first concert made the label broaden the scope of the concert series, with the second edition in 2010 featuring seven concerts, in Seoul, Paris, Tokyo, Shangai, and New York City. A similar series of concerts was held in 2012 and 2013 before the label stopped sending concerts to the West as part of the annual concert.

With 96 shows across the globe in the years that it has been held, the concert series has seen hundreds of thousands of viewers live. The concert series has previously featured performances by The Grace, Girls' Generation, and Chu Gayeoul, as well as Zhang Liyin, Kim Minjong, and Go Ara, among others.

SM Entertainment will announce two additional concerts and new concert venues for SMTOWN Live 2025 in the coming days. No details have been released as of the writing of this article as to where and when these unannounced concerts will be held.
