Shakira’s scheduled concert in Medellín, Colombia, has been postponed due to safety concerns surrounding the stage setup.

The show was originally scheduled for February 24, 2025, at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium. It is now called off after event organizers discovered damage to the stage roof, which has raised risks for the artist, her crew, and the audience.

This marks another setback for Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, which is her first in seven years. The announcement came just days after the Colombian superstar was forced to cancel a show in Lima, Peru, due to an abdominal condition that required medical attention.

As of now, the singer and her team have assured fans that they are working on rescheduling the Medellín concert for a later date. Billboard reports that in an official X (formerly Twitter) post, Shakira shared,

"My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to. My children were excited to get to know Medellín, and I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for them. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled."

She also mentioned,

"It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll soon find a new date to celebrate together. Always grateful for the unconditional support you give me,” she added. “I love you very much and I hope to see you very soon."

Reactions poured in as Shakira shared show cancellation update

Under the comments of the official X post made by the globally beloved singer, multiple netizens gathered to share their thoughts. Below are what some of them had to share:

"It is clear that the responsibility for the cancellation of the event was not Shakira's team, but the Medellin administration.", declared a netizen.
"I came to Medellín from Itagüí to fulfill my wife's lifelong dream with the concert, and now upon arriving in this city, we find out that it’s been canceled for the 2nd time. An artist of your caliber can’t do this to us, what a disappointment. Karol G wouldn’t do this.", shared a disappointed fan.
"Surely you were just as eager to see the show as the people were to see you and sing with you, but there are things that are not in our hands. Things that can happen. I had to be in Japan and they cancelled the flight and there was no availability for 10 days, and well, these are risks that one takes.", added another.

Event organizers Paramo Presenta confirmed that the damage to the stage roof occurred during the setup process, Billboard reports. The production was handled by a local company. Structural issues were identified during the construction procedure.

In an official statement, the promoters emphasized that safety was their top priority:

"During the process of setting up the show, the stage roof installed by a local production company suffered damage that put the artist's safety at risk."

Despite the disappointment of fans, Paramo Presenta reassured enthusiasts that they are working closely with Shakira’s team to reschedule the show. They also hinted at the possibility of adding new concert dates in Colombia later this year.
