Shakira was hospitalized on February 16 in Lima, leading to an abrupt postponement of her concert. The singer revealed on social media that she had to visit the ER due to a sudden abdominal issue. She apologized to her fans and revealed her regret for being unable to perform in support of her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

The singer was scheduled to perform in Peru's capital on February 16 at the Estádio Nacional stadium. The Hips Don't Lie singer is currently touring through Latin America through March 30. The dates of the postponed Lima concert are yet to be announced.

Shakira's note to her fans about the hospitalization

The singer took to her Instagram stories to share a note with her fans about the hospitalization. The singer apologized, noted that she was "hospitalized" and revealed her doctor's advice. She added,

"The doctors taking care of me have let me know that I'm not well enough to perform tonight."

The singer revealed her sadness after kickstarting her tour after seven years. She noted,

“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru."

She added that she is "expected" to be released from the hospital on Monday and that her "team and promoters" are working on a new date.


Fans react as Shakira is hospitalized in Peru

Fans took to X to share concerns and prayers for the singer's health. One user (@arianaunext) wrote,

"Omg no, I hope she gets better soon!"

Another user (@tomlikestocode) expressed empathy and noted,

"Wishing her a speedy recovery! Health comes first, and your fans will be here when you're ready."

One user (@AzZaid) revealed a previous concert in 2017 when she had to postpone a concert. They noted,

"This is not the first time she has faced health-related concert delays. In 2017, she postponed her "El Dorado World Tour" due to a vocal cord hemorrhage."

In other news, the singer was recently awarded the Grammy Award for her album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran in the Best Latin Pop Category and also revealed her excitement for the tour. She has also announced her tour dates in North America which will kick off on May 13 and wrap up on June 30 in San Francisco.
