American country music duo Brooks & Dunn released their hit single, Ain't Nothing 'Bout You, on February 12, 2001, as the lead single of their Steers & Stripes album.
The country song was a huge success; it was nominated for Single of the Year by the Country Music Association and consecutively spent six weeks on the US Country Music chart, eventually awarded as the chart's number one song of 2001.
Numerous country artists covered Ain't Nothing 'Bout You, including Taylor Swift, who performed her version in 2013. Brooks & Dunn recently expressed their excitement about the mega star's cover of their song.
"It's funny. Kix and I caught ourselves being pigeonholed strictly for the sake of the public, and an emphasis is put on us being Brooks & Dunn the duo. Well, we're songwriters … That's where it gets really exciting to hear somebody do one of your songs that you wrote."
The duo tells Parade that they couldn't help but give Swift a big thanks after they saw her after her performance.
"I just told her how proud I was of her for doing that stuff, and big thanks," the 71-year-old Dunn said.
More details on Brooks & Dunn's Exclusive with Parade
Brooks & Dunn's exclusive chat with Parade was published in their March 15 issue. The duo talked about their excitement when Taylor Swift covered their hit single, Ain't Nothing 'Bout You. They also talked about their most recent album, Reboot II, which was released in November 2024, and shared some details about their upcoming Neon Moon tour.
Brook, 69, revealed to Parade how Taylor Swift inspired them to work with younger artists and not limit themselves to the country genre alone. Their last album featured several artists, including Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Megan Moroney, and HARDY, to mention a few.
"It is a lot more mainstream, but I would say the lines are blurred in pretty much every genre of music. I think that especially with streaming and people making their own playlist, it always starts with young listeners," Brooks told Parade.
He continued:
"The majority of young listeners don't listen to FM radio like we did back in the day when FM was the only place you could hear new music, and that's where you were really turned on to it."
Brooks & Dunn will be going on tour this March.
The tour, dubbed NEON MOON, was supposed to start on March 13 at the Lubbock, TX—United Supermarkets Arena on the campus of Texas Tech University. However, it has been rescheduled to begin on Thursday, March 20, due to the fire explosion that caused a power outage and campus evacuations.
