Colombian superstar Shakira has canceled her much-anticipated show in Peru after being sent to the hospital with an abdominal issue. The 48-year-old singer who just began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, expressed her anger at the last-minute cancelation on social media.

Shakira told her followers about the unexpected health setback on X,

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized.”

She went on to say that because she was

"not in good enough condition"

to perform, physicians had advised against it. She did not specify the specifics of her ailment, although sources suggest she experienced excruciating stomach discomfort prior to being taken to a Lima hospital.


Shakira's canceled concert in Peru and rescheduling efforts

As part of her Latin American tour, Shakira was scheduled to play in Peru on February 17. But she had to postpone the show due to her unexpected illness. The singer reassured fans, that a new date for the performance is being worked out by her team and concert producers.

She wrote,

“I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I have been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.”

Shakira is hopeful that she will bounce back swiftly and resume her performance despite the setback. She is anticipated to return to the stage as early as next week if her condition improves.

As word of the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker's hospitalization spread, fans flocked to Lima's Clínica Delgado Auna, where she is undergoing treatment. Numerous people were observed praying, waving banners, and showing concern for the singer's well-being. Since then, pictures and videos of her devoted fans waiting outside the hospital have gone viral, demonstrating the influence of her music on listeners worldwide.


Her tour and Grammy win

On February 11, she began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran globe tour in Rio de Janeiro, which was her first international tour in seven years. The tour comes after her most recent record, which won her the 2025 Grammy Award' Best Latin Pop Album.

During her Grammy acceptance speech, she dedicated the victory to her children, Milan and Sasha, saying,

“This is incredible, thank you so much.”

The tour will continue to Mexico, the US, and Canada after her Latin American performances, where she will play close to 50 shows until the middle of 2025.


There is optimism that the Hips Don't Lie singer will be discharged soon and able to resume her concerts as fans wait for information on her recuperation. After Peru, she is expected to go to Colombia, where she will perform one of the tour's most anticipated shows.

As of right now, her fans throughout the world are wishing her a quick and complete recovery.
