Rapper Kevin Gates has taken aim at basketball legend LeBron James. On April 19, 2025, Gates shared an Instagram video discussing James and his wife, Savannah. The rapper reflected on watching couples and athletes, including LeBron James and Savannah.

He mentioned noticing the way Savannah looked at LeBron during their handshake, noting it lacked excitement or admiration. He stated that others questioned why he wouldn't want to trade places with someone as legendary as LeBron, and he responded that he didn't like how Savannah reacted to James.

He compared it to the enthusiasm displayed by women in the crowd when LeBron stepped out, remarking that they seemed thrilled.

For those unversed, Kevin Gates and Dreka Haynes had been in a long-term relationship before getting married in 2015. In 2022, Gates released his single "Super General," in which he alleged that Dreka cheated on him, implying that they ended their relationship.

He also suggested that she was involved with her personal trainer. The lyrics from the song mention:

“Went home to sleep, deep down, there's tension when you knowin' that somethin' missin'/ Suck it up, put all my energy back in Islah and Lil Killa/Took the blame in interviews and made it look like I was trippin'/Made the "Dreka" song, lied to the world while tryna protec' her image.”

It seems that LeBron James reportedly responded to Kevin Gates' comments in an Instagram post. The post, featuring a photo of James and Savannah, included the caption:

However, according to The Shade Room, a woman named Persia claimed that she was involved with the rapper as he told her he was legally separated from Dreka. In a self-recorded video that is now circulating on social media platforms, Persia said:

“I want to make one thing very clear, I would never f**k with a married man. This man told me he’s legally separated, so that’s that. I simply came onto this platform to express how I feel ’cause I have every right to feel the way that I do and to women that are going through the same thing.”
