Ghost will no longer be performing their scheduled show at Palacio Vistalegre on April 30, 2025.
The Swedish rock band announced the cancellation earlier this week owing to "complex production issues" that could not be resolved in time. Despite attempts to shift the event to another venue, the beloved band ultimately had to scrap the Madrid stop from their Skeletour schedule.
Ghost took to their official Instagram page to share the news of the Madrid show cancellation. The post read:
"[MESSAGE FROM THE CLERGY] It is with deep regret that we inform you the Ghost show on April 30th at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid has been canceled. Due to complex production issues beyond our control, the venue is unable to safely accommodate the weight and size of our production. Despite highest efforts to move the show to Movistar Arena, the current basketball league's schedule has rendered the venue unavailable."
It continues:
"The band is devastated and shares in the disappointment caused by these unforeseeable circumstances. Every attempt possible will be made to return and deliver the show Madrid deserves! Tickets will be refunded at points of purchase starting April 30th."
More on Ghost's show cancellation
Ghost is led by the masked frontman Tobias Forge. The rock band is currently touring in support of their sixth studio album, Skeletá, which was officially dropped on April 25, 2025. The Skeletour kicked off in Manchester, UK, on April 15, 2025, and is set to hit multiple cities across Europe and North America.
Madrid was supposed to be one of the key stops on the European leg of the tour. However, just days before the concert date, the band broke the news that the show would not be going ahead as planned.
In the above-mentioned official statement posted to their social media, Ghost explained why the cancellation was necessary. Palacio Vistalegre was found to be unable to safely support the weight and size of the band's stage design. According to the group, every effort was made to find a solution, such as trying to move the concert to the Movistar Arena, a relatively larger venue within Madrid.
Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts with ongoing basketball league games at the Movistar Arena made that option impossible.
Ghost also shared their disappointment over the cancellation. They reassured fans that "every attempt possible will be made to return and deliver the show Madrid deserves" in the future. Ticket holders will be able to receive full refunds beginning April 30, 2025, at their original points of purchase.
According to reports, for many fans in Spain, the Madrid concert was the only chance to see Ghost during this European run. Given the band's no-phone policy at shows, very few behind-the-scenes glimpses have surfaced online.
