Swedish singer-songwriter Sandro Cavazza, well known for his collaborations with the late Avicii, has opposed the release of their song, Forever Yours- Tim's 2016 Ibiza Version. Pophouse, the Avicii Estate, and Interscope Records created the song, which was released on February 14. Cavazza's assertion raises concerns regarding creative integrity and posthumous music releases that he never authorized of its distribution as a single.
Sandro Cavazza took to social media to express his annoyance, stating on Instagram that he had only consented to release Avicii's Forever Yours demo as part of a full live album. He felt obliged to speak up because the song was published as a stand-alone single showcasing Cavazza instead of that album.
Sandro Cavazza commented,
“I have not agreed on releasing this as a single. I have only agreed on releasing Tim’s demo version of Forever Yours as a part of a full live album release from Tim’s last show. Since that album wasn’t released today and this is now being portrayed as a single, featuring me, I feel like I need to speak up.”
Cavazza also disclosed that he had repeatedly turned down requests from Avicii's family and Pinguettes Recordings to share their unpublished collaborations for years.
He said, “A lot of you probably wonder why those songs never have come out, and the truth is that I don’t want to release any of those songs without Tim being here. He is the only one who knew when his songs were finished, and I do and will continue to respect that.”
He asked music executive Per Sundin, Pinguettes Recordings, and the estate to reevaluate how they manage Avicii's legacy.
“I therefore wish that Pinguettes Recordings, Per Sundin, and Tim’s family will respect that decision as well and that they think twice about what the most respectful way to treat Tim’s memory is, because I don’t think this is it.”
Sandro Cavazza's stance and the industry's response

Discussions concerning the obligations of record companies, estates, and collaborators when it comes to unreleased music have been rekindled by Cavazza's adamant objection to the publication of Forever Yours. A strong ethical and personal dedication to upholding the late artist's standards is suggested by his statement, in which he specifically noted his refusal to distribute any work without Avicii's consent.
Sandro Cavazza's worries have been noted by industry insiders. According to music producer Jonas Wallin, who previously collaborated with Avicii, said,
“When an artist explicitly states their wishes, those should be respected. It’s about integrity, not just sales.”
However, some contend that posthumous releases may be an homage rather than an exploitation if the music is handled carefully.
A lasting legacy

There is no denying Avicii's impact on electronic dance music. He transformed EDM by fusing it with pop, folk, and country elements. He is well known, for songs including Wake Me Up, Levels, and Hey Brother. He was one of the most adored DJs and producers of all time because of his unique ability to write tunes that were both joyful and intensely emotional.
His final months on stage are integrally linked to the history of Forever Yours, one of his final live performances. One thing is clear, regardless of whether its publication is viewed as a homage or transgression of his creative intent: Avicii's music continues to have an impact on listeners all around the world, igniting his discussion about his genius and the best ways to pay respect to him.
