The post continued,

“‘Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.’ The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.”

Dolly Parton and Carl Dean were married in 1966 on Memorial Day in Ringgold, Georgia, according to Parton’s website. The Tennessee-based musician has always remained close to her home state, and the couple had been living in an affluent Brentwood-based home close to the country capital, Nashville, since 1999, according to Architectural Digest.

All that is known about Parton and Dean’s home, which initially cost $400,000, is that the couple made several adjustments to the property, as per Kiwi Report, which include a tennis court, a pool, a chapel, and a farm.

The star who is behind chart-topping hits like I Will Always Love You, Jolene, and 9 to 5 also opened up a theme park called Dollywood in Tennessee. According to House and Garden, in addition to being an amusement park, Dollywood offers visitors insights into Parton’s early life with a life-like model of the cabin in which she grew up.

Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, had been an essential part of the star’s life. Parton and Dean had been in a relationship for two years, since Parton was 18 years old, before they tied the knot in a small ceremony, according to The New York Times.

Carl Dean, who was in the asphalt business, had a net worth of $20 Million, according to Marca.

Despite being an essential part of superstar Parton’s personal life, Carl Dean was notably private and seldom accompanied his wife for public events.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Parton had once explained why Carl Dean doesn’t accompany her to her performances. Parton said,

“He gets nervous seeing me perform, ‘cause it's almost like seeing your kid in recital, afraid I'll mess up…he doesn't like to travel, he's pretty much a homebody.”

The relationship of Dolly Parton and Carl Dean

Dolly Parton has often described her life with her husband. Most notably, Parton told The New York Times that she met Carl Dean in front of a laundromat when she first arrived in Nashville to make it big in the country music scene. Describing that time, Parton said,

“I was at the Laundromat, the Wishy‐Washy‐‐I'd come to Nashville with dirty clothes. I was in such a hurry to get here—and after I'd put my clothes in the machine, I started walkin’ down the street, just lookin’ at my new borne, and this guy hollered at me, and I waved. Bein’ from the country, I spoke to everybody. And he came over and, well, it was Carl, my husband.”

In 2016, the couple marked their 50th anniversary in style. Parton announced the event on her website, which honored the couple’s relationship and shared that her dress and Dean’s suit would be displayed in Dollywood for fans.

Dolly Parton has lost her cherished partner and companion in Carl Dean, but odes to their love will remain in Parton’s songs. For now, Parton looks forward to the world premiere run of her autobiographical musical, Dolly: An Original Musical.
