Young Stoner Life Records, better known as YSL Records, has officially removed all posts or mentions of Gunna from their Instagram page.
Rumors about Gunna and Young Thug's label are brewing as any mention of the Drip Season rapper has been axed, including the promotion for his 2023's A Gift & a Curse.
Wunna, who is gearing up to release a new album soon, now shares a rocky relationship with Young Thug and YSL, both of whom were once his mentors, Hot New Hip Hop has reported.
Young Thug launched his record label in November 2016, and by February of the following year, Wunna was announced as part of the label. To date, details about their agreement, such as financial agreements, rights, number and nature of releases, etc, remain unclear.
Here's everything we know about the alleged beef between Gunna and Young Thug:
Wunna and Young Thug's tensions stem from the former's plea deal in the YSL RICO case, which dates back to December 2022. At the time, YSL consistently promoted Wunna, who expressed support for Thug. He also claimed to be blameless in the snitching accusations against him.
Furthermore, when the Barter 6 MC pushed for probation, he petitioned the court to allow him to continue collaborating with his DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD partner. However, fans were quick to spot a now-deleted tweet Young Thug posted aimed at Wunna:
"Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know u my guy."
Since then, neither party has commented on the situation, leaving fans to speculate. At the time of writing, many are concerned about Wunna's ties to YSL Records, with many even suggesting that it may now be strained if it hasn't already been severed. As for the rumors that he snitched, Wunna's former attorney, Steve Sadow, has long maintained that his client is innocent:
“I was Gunna’s attorney, but I am NOT representing him in this statement. This extensive post is intended only to clarify the truth,” Sadow stated in a recent social media update.
Sadow stressed,
“Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to jeopardize Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea.”
Sadow also asserted that his plea deal had no impact on Young Thug's trial, nor did he ever serve as a witness.
In the last two years, Wunna has been making waves in his career as he tours the world for performances.
