South African singer Tyla returned to Coachella 2025 for its second weekend with a surprise song debut.
A year ago, the Grammy-winning artist had to cancel her Coachella performance due to a worsening injury. It also put her North American tour plans on pause. This year, she made a powerful comeback as she joined a lineup of African artists bringing their music to the desert stage.
Tyla performed on Friday evening at the Outdoor Theatre stage in Indio, California. According to reports, her performance was part of a wave of African representation at Coachella 2025.
Acts like Rema, Amaarae, and Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 brought Afrobeat, amapiano, and alté sounds to a global audience. As one of the standout artists of the weekend, Tyla also gathered a notable amount of love and applause from the audience. She delivered a high-energy set.
Tyla's new music tease at Coachella 2025 weekend 2
One of the most talked-about moments from Tyla's set came as she debuted a song live for the first time. Rolling Stone reports that the yet-to-be-titled track is informally dubbed Bliss by fans. During the performance, Tyla was seated on the stage stairs as she sang relatively tender lyrics.
Per the outlet, the beloved Water singer sang:
"I don't want to be nowhere without you/ Baby, I don't want to let you out my sight/ I don't want to, I don't want to ever break away from you. Let my smile bring you peace of mind/ Burning desire when you throw your arms all around me/ I need to feel all your passion."
She added:
"You take me to bliss. Never found a love like this/ Never found it, never found it."
Fan footage of the song quickly circulated online. Check out one such clip below:
Rolling Stone reports that Tyla previously told Billboard that her upcoming album would reflect a different energy than her debut. She mentioned:
"I have changed a lot in a short amount of time because I was kind of forced to with how fast I had to adapt to everything. I don't think it’s going to be the same energy [as Tyla] at all, especially with what I have started making. It's different, but also still Tyla."
