J Cole's first track of the year came out this Friday, February 21, and it references the assassination attempt on President Trump.

In his new track, "cLOUDs," produced by DZL and Omen, J Cole spits bars about the Philadelphia rally that took place this past June as he raps:

“I’m that bass in your trunk, the bullet that missed trump/ The gun that jammed cuz it seemed God had other plans"

Everything to know about J Cole's new track:

The Dreamville boss uploaded his track on his Inevitable blog, and in a post online, Cole said he made the track just a few days ago, adding that he gave it a name minutes before he released it:

“Just wanted to share,” he wrote. “Made this a few days ago, then i added a second verse and was like “man I got a blog now, I can put whatever I want up there.” I didn’t have a title 20 minutes ago when I decided to really put this up. But now I got one… “cLOUDs”.

Just earlier this week, he promised fans he would be more consistent with updating fans on his progress, noting that this year is going to be a busy one for him.

“I knowwww mannnn. I’m off to a bad start with the consistency, but I’ma do better! Watch,” he wrote. “I been locked in on the music while also balancing family life. It’s a juggling act that a blog post wouldn’t do justice in explaining. But with that said, I’m back tending to this garden."

He went on:

“I think I’m gonna let some other people post on here too, to get the vibes up. It’ll motivate me to check every day, and will fuel the desire to post more. I’ma start with Ib and Scott and then expand from there. To anybody in the squad reading, if you trying to contribute I’m taking applications!”

In his new track, J Cole also bashed billionaires for being reckless about the status quo of the world, as he rapped,

"Throw in the pan and Caramelized for richness/ And Served on a plate with sirloin steak/ To billionaires who don't care the world's gone break/ Long as they make money off it, pain brings profit"

At the time of writing, it remains unclear if J Cole's new track will be a part of his upcoming album, The Fall Off. The artist has been teasing fans with the release of his album since 2018, back when he dropped his single 1985. Since then, he's made it clear the album is coming soon, though he failed to mention exactly when.
