Ed Sheeran has officially revealed the title of his upcoming album, and it is Play.
The announcement came during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 26, 2025. During the show, the singer-songwriter also performed live and shared insights into his musical vision.
As reports suggest, the name reveal confirmed fan speculation that Ed Sheeran's next album would move beyond his Mathematics series.
During the interview, the singer also spoke about his latest single, Azizam, which is seemingly a Persian-inspired track. Moreover, he gave a live demonstration of his loop pedal setup. Ed Sheeran also performed a disguised subway gig in New York with Jimmy Fallon, reports claim.

What can we expect from Ed Sheeran's Play era?
For over a decade, the singer has named his albums after mathematical symbols. He started with + (2011), which was followed by x (2014), ÷ (2017), = (2021), and - (2023).
Now, with Play, the singer is expected start a new conceptual project, reports suggest. He revealed that this album is part of a bigger vision he had at 18, which includes future records titled Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Stop.
Ed Sheeran also mentioned in a lighter note that he has an additional project in mind, which is an album titled Eject. It will feature unreleased songs from different phases of his life, to be released posthumously. Per Hit Channel, joking about the same, the singer shared:
"Imagine if, when Paul McCartney dies, an album drops with songs from every stage of his life. That would be fascinating. In my case, people would probably say, ‘Damn, he’s still haunting us from the grave!’"
Reports suggest that release of the Play album is expected later in 2025.
