David Guetta, the globally renowned DJ and electronic dance music (EDM) icon, has undergone a remarkable transformation in his perception of Las Vegas. Once skeptical of the city’s approach to DJ culture, Guetta has now cemented his place as one of its most celebrated residents. With a new residency at Fontainebleau’s LIV and LIV Beach, he is set to perform 13 dates over the next two years, marking yet another milestone in his long-standing relationship with the Strip.

David Guetta's initial experience in Las Vegas was far from what he expected.

Guetta told Billboard,

“I’ve been working like crazy every day, from morning to evening, on this set. I only play my records or records that I love, but I make remixes or revisit classics. It’s a lot of production work, but it gives unique content. Vegas, to me, really represents America because you have people coming from everywhere. So I took a lot of big American classics, including rock songs, and made remixes to play for this event. More than half of the set I’ve never played before.”

David Guetta’s surprise performance at LIV Beach ahead of residency launch

Ahead of his official residency launch, David Guetta made an unplanned appearance at LIV Beach during John Summit’s set. Surprising the crowd with a performance of "Beautiful People," his latest collaboration with Sia, the moment highlighted the electrifying atmosphere of the venue.

David Guetta said,

“I was not planning on it. I just came to say hi. I wanted to see the vibe because going to a new place is a huge challenge. Even though it looked good on paper, I needed to experience it, and then John told me, ‘Why don’t you play a few records.’ It was insane. The level of energy, also, we never played together, so I think people were shocked. Some clubs can be beautiful, but they just don’t connect, and it’s hard to explain why. But here, I felt good.”

The evolution of Las Vegas' nightlife scene changed Guetta's outlook. The city’s investment in electronic music, coupled with an audience that grew increasingly attuned to the genre, helped shift Guetta’s perception. Over the past 15 years, he has seen Vegas go wild, welcoming and grooming its electronic dance music culture and crafting it into a global hot spot where that kind of big beat is king.

Guetta’s decision to join LIV and LIV Beach comes after a decade-long tenure at Wynn Nightlife’s XS and Encore Beach Club. His departure from Wynn contributed to a broader reshuffling of DJ residencies across the Strip.

Meanwhile, other places are broadening their lineups to entice a wide range of people. Wynn Nightlife introduced a mix of country (dubbed "YeeDM" and electronic acts, featuring artists like Deadmau5, Odesza, and The Chainsmokers. Zouk Nightclub at Resorts World has also broadened its range with acts such as Lil Wayne, DJ Snake, and Kaskade, while Drai’s remains a stronghold for hip-hop performances.

David Guetta acknowledges the city’s transformation over the years, crediting its commitment to building a thriving DJ culture. He has sold more than 10 million albums and 65 million singles worldwide, with over 30 billion streams on Spotify.
