NBA YoungBoy’s fans are going gaga after the rapper’s godmother created a mysterious yet jubilant post on her social media, leading people to speculate that he was out of prison earlier than expected.
On March 24, 2025, Garcia went on Instagram with an all-caps message:
"TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! HE'S BACK!!!!"
Who is NBA YoungBoy?
The rapper NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, is 25 years old and originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After pleading guilty to firearm possession charges he received a 23-month federal prison sentence followed by five years of probation in December 2024.
During a music video shoot in 2020, Baton Rouge's Gaulden, a convicted felon possessed a handgun, which led to his conviction. Authorities arrested 15 people when they confiscated over a dozen guns from a video shoot set.
Gaulden entered a guilty plea for his involvement in a Utah prescription drug fraud scheme with identity fraud and forgery charges in November 2024. The plea agreement obligated him to pay $25,000 while his federal sentence remained unchanged. Legal problems resulted in his present imprisonment with an expected release in April 2025.

Confusion about his release date
The frenzy surrounding YoungBoy’s possible release comes after reports emerged that his prison sentence, before his potential release, had already been reduced. Initially set for July 27, 2025, updates from the Federal Bureau of Prisons indicated that his release had been moved up to April 26, 2025—but now, speculation suggests he may have been freed even earlier, on March 24, 2025.
Hip-hop news outlets, including XXL and HipHopDX, have reported on the possibility of an early release, but there has yet to be an official statement from NBA YoungBoy’s legal team confirming the news.

What happens next with NBA YoungBoy remains to be seen.
