Here’s what reviewers said about Playboi Carti’s album

NFR Podcast’s Luca Guerini shared his first thoughts on the album, noting that with 30 tracks, it showcases the most varied vocal performances of Playboi Carti's career. He pointed out that while Carti has been experimenting with a deeper voice recently, this project takes that even further.

According to Guerini, some listeners might find the low, distorted vocals too similar to Future’s style, but he argued that Carti's voice naturally resembles Future when pitched down. He also appreciated that Playboi Carti didn’t stick to one vocal approach, keeping things dynamic rather than repetitive. Guerini added:

“There’s some songs that felt kind of middle of the road for me where I am like ‘Okay, this is standard Carti, nothing too crazy.’”

Anthony Paul D’Aliesio shared his thoughts on the album, highlighting its structured songs. He compared it to a classic Southern mixtape, similar to Da Drought 3, which had a long runtime but maintained consistent quality throughout.

While he clarified that he wasn’t directly comparing the two projects, he noted that this album has a similar feel, with listeners able to go through multiple tracks without hitting a weak spot. In contrast, he felt that previous Playboi Carti albums had noticeable low points in their tracklists.

According to Variety, Carti released his second album, Whole Lotta Red, in 2020. It featured collaborations with Kanye West, Future, and Kid Cudi. Soon after, he hinted at working on a third album, initially calling it Narcissist. Although a 2021 release was expected, it never happened.
