The Mars Volta group has finally confirmed a release date for their highly-anticipated studio album following speculations and theories by fans and media. One-half of the duo, vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, announced that the Lucro Sucio: Los Ojos del vacio album would drop on April 11, 2025.
The Mars Volta member also shared pre-order links for interested fans. In late January 2025, the contents of the album and release date were leaked, according to Billboard. Unfazed by the setback, the music group began their US tour alongside Alternative metal band Deftones. The event kicked off on February 25 and will wrap up on April 8, 2025.

The group described the album as follows:
"The Mars Volta’s ninth studio album represents a significant milestone for the band, which has been continually reinventing itself for more than 20 years,”
It continues:
"With Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacio, they deliver an album that celebrates their roots, allowing them to reconnect with their origins. Fans are invited to embark on a musical journey."
Mars Volta has performed some of the tracks from the upcoming album on their tour with Deftones. The members of the band share a storied history as they were once members of a larger band named At the Drive-In.
At the Drive-In has an impressive body of work comprising three studio albums and five Extended Plays. Their 2000 album, Relationship of Command, is often cited as one of the posters of the post-rock genre in America. They reunited in 2017 for the release of their fourth studio album in•ter a•li•a and split for the very last time.
Meanwhile, Bixler-Zavala, a vocalist in the former group, and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, guitarist, formed The Mars Volta. They released their debut album, De-loused in the Comatorium, in 2003. They followed after with Frances the Mute in 2005, which peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The band’s last album release before their split in 2013 was Noctourniquet. The band became active again in 2022 and released an eponymous track, followed by an acoustic album titled Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazón.
