Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham’s latest album $ome $*xy $ongs 4 U has been talk of the town recently. With mixed reactions from audiences and online personalities, one of the songs that has become popular from the album is Gimme a hug.
However, rapper GloRilla seems to have been dragged into the tug of war between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. On February 20, 2025, the TGIF singer shared an X post writing:
“I miss you h*es gimmie hug !!!”

Her post sparked a wave of reactions from social media users, some of who speculated that she chose Drake over Kendrick in their ongoing feud. While GloRilla did not provide any context for her X post, what is being rumored about her stance in the ongoing feud between the rappers, is based on netizens’ assumptions. For instance, one X user replied to her post asking:
“So you chose Drake over Kendrick Lamar?”
Many social media users felt she picked the right side and appeared pleased with the idea.
“Glorilla listening to the new drake,” a social media user speculated.
“Glo supporting the boy? Yea time to go stream your album,” an online commentator wrote.
“She know which side she on,” an internet user noted.
Other X users appreciated the song while some netizens defended GloRilla suggesting her post had nothing to do with the song.
“Someone should really give him a hug for dat banger,” a netizen reacted.
“A lot of y’all lookin way too deep into this tweet. Shorty just asked for a hug… lls,” a person suggested.
“We appreciate you being neutral Glo…” another X user remarked.
GloRilla had previously expressed her desire to work with Drake
During a conversation with Club Shay Hay in 2024, GloRilla had revealed her dream collaborators include Beyonce, Drake, Lil Wayne, Future and Chief Keef. Podcast host Shannon Sharpe asked the reason behind picking these particular names.
She said she grew up on Beyonce, who was her favorite artist. GloRilla added:
“Lil Wayne and Drake, they just like lyrical beast. I love their swag and their approach to songs and they come on the beats and sh*t. Chief Keef was young and turn like, he was the first young turn rapper I ever knew about.”
When Sharpe asked about whom she thought to be the best rappers, GloRilla replied Lil Wayne, Drake, Eminem and Jay-Z. This wasn’t the first time that she expressed her desire to work with the Canadian rapper. In 2023, while speaking to Billboard about her BET Award nominations, she said she was happy to find out that she was after Graham in the nominations. She said:
“It’s crazy when I found it out, I was like ‘Next to Drake? Me?’ I will praise to God.”
Neena Rouhani, the reporter, asked her whether there would be a collaboration with Graham. Although GloRilla did not confirm anything, she said they would try to make it work.
GloRilla and Kendrick Lamar were nominated in the Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song category at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. While Lamar was nominated for his diss track Not Like Us, GloRilla was chosen for Yeah Glo!
However, this wasn’t the only category in which the two singers shared nominations. Their respective songs were also chosen for the Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album category, too
