Rachel Zegler shares why she got selected to play Snow White: Read more
Rachel Zegler's Snow White has taken yet another blow, this time with the film being banned in theaters across Lebanon. The film features Zegler embodying the titular character, while Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen.
In the film, the princess teams up with seven dwarfs to rescue her kingdom from Gadot's character, though the film has been marred by controversy long before it came out this March. Upon its release, it garnered mixed reviews from critics and a subpar response at the box office.
Nonetheless, the 23-year-old actress sat down for an interview with Allure for the cover story just last month, when she reflected on how it felt to embody the role of a princess:
"I feel like an actual princess,” she told the outlet.
Reflecting on why she got the role in the first place, she said:
“The reality is, I was given a chance because I could sing. They saw something,” she says. “Something they could invest in for the future.”
Per the outlet, Director Webb said of Rachel Zegler:
“Snow White has an optimistic, youthful grace. Even in her darkest moments, she finds humanity and beauty in others. I think Rachel has that in her spirit. And it doesn’t hurt that during her screen test, she made us weep with her rendition of ‘Waiting on a Wish.’”
Only time will tell if Rachel Zegler does indeed collaborate with Taylor Swift in the future, but in the meantime, fans will have to make do with her fleeting Instagram Story covers.
