His presence added a layer to the premiere, that might reinforce the impact of Michael Jackson’s footprint in the global music industry. Prince has been often vocal about preserving his father’s legacy. He previously participated in events that gave a nod to Michael Jackson’s contributions to the entertainment industry, Billboard reports.

'MJ The Musical' is a Tony Award-winning production that first debuted on Broadway in 2021. The show provides a look into Michael Jackson’s creative process as he prepared for his 1992 Dangerous World Tour.

Prince Jackson’s attendance at the Sydney premiere is part of his support for the musical

In 2022, Prince Jackson and his sister Paris Jackson made an appearance at the Tony Awards, where MJ The Musical was nominated for multiple awards. The siblings introduced the cast’s performance of Smooth Criminal. Prince also shared insights into his father’s deep love for musicals, E! Online reports.

Per ABC News, Prince said during the 2022 Tony Awards,

"A lot of people seem to think our dad Michael Jackson changed popular music forever. And who are we to disagree? But what people may not know is that he loved musicals, on film and on the stage."

In March 2024, Prince, Paris, and their younger brother Bigi Jackson attended the London preview of the musical, US Weekly reports. Prince has remained active in philanthropic efforts.

He co-founded Heal Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization inspired by Michael Jackson’s song Heal the World. Per US Weekly, in a past interview, Prince Jackson spoke about the responsibility of carrying forward his father’s vision, stating,

"I come from a very rich family history, and those are big shoes to fill. But I wear it like a badge of honor. My siblings and I, we each kind of got a piece of him in different ways. For me, it’s that philanthropic kind of giving back, and that’s where I’m really passionate about. I just hope the work that we do makes him proud."

Performances of 'MJ The Musical' will continue in Sydney.
