Rapper Kanye West does not hold back on X! On March 18, 2025, he shared an X post mentioning how singer Ty Dolla $ign’s 2024 album Vultures 1 received a substantial boost on Spotify. The album was a collaborative work between $ign and West. The latter then shared a screenshot of $ign’s Instagram story that mentioned:
“I do not condone ANY form of hate speech towards ANYBODY.”
Replying to his post, an X user @wanderpill commented:
“No you just need Kendrick to give you your very own ‘meet the grahams’”
Kanye West replied to the netizen’s comment, writing:
“KENDRICK PLEEEEASE COME DISS MEEEE ON BEHALF OF LUCIEN GRANGE PLEEEEEASE.”
His post comes at a time when he shared his feelings about Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us. On March 18, 2025, he shared another X post:
“I HAAAAAATED NOT LIKE US.”
During an interview with Justin Laboy in 2025, Kanye West was asked who he thought won the rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. He responded that Kendrick’s victory was a major moment since Drake had been his long-time rival. Comparing it to a movie, he suggested that Drake’s absence, even if temporary, felt like a key character being taken out of the storyline.
He also reflected on how challenging it was for him to create songs like Father Stretch My Hands, acknowledging Drake’s talent and influence, calling one of his songs one of the greatest ever made. Laboy suggested that it was over for Drake as Kendrick Lamar overpowered him, and although West agreed, he suggested it was temporary.
Why does Kanye West think it is almost impossible to defeat Kendrick Lamar in a rap battle?
Speaking to Justin Laboy, Kanye West compared Kendrick Lamar’s rap skills to an unbeatable move in a video game, saying that anyone who goes up against him is likely to lose. He acknowledged that every artist believes they are the best, but Kendrick has a unique technique that makes it nearly impossible for him to defeat in a battle.
West added that only someone with a genius-level mindset could stand a chance against Lamar in a rap competition. In a 2018 interview with Vanity Fair, Kendrick Lamar was asked what he felt about Kanye West’s statements about President Trump and slavery. He replied:
“He has his own perspective, and he’s on this whole agree to disagree thing, and I would have this conversation with him personally if I want to.”
According to the interview piece, after opening for Kanye West on the 2013 Yeezus tour, he seemed to transform as a performer, becoming more confident and energetic. When asked about it, Lamar credited this change to a trip to South Africa, which gave him a deeper sense of awareness and pride.
Reflecting on wealth and responsibility, he recalled how, at 16, he imagined spending a million dollars on material things. However, he later realized that reckless spending could negatively impact those who depended on him. As the first in his family to achieve this level of success, he felt responsible for managing it wisely to help others thrive as well.
