Kanye West's 2020 presidential run
Ye first ventured into politics during the 2020 U.S. presidential election, announcing his candidacy via X (formerly Twitter) on July 4, 2020. His unusual campaign grabbed a lot of public attention. West submitted an official Statement of Candidacy to the Federal Election Commission, but he didn't meet several state deadlines to get on the ballot, which spoiled his chances.
He chose Christian preacher Michelle Tidball as his running partner and ran on a platform that pushed for faith-based principles protecting the environment, and what he called a "culture of life."
West got on the ballot in just 12 states, but his campaign ran into big problems, including legal fights over getting on the ballot in several states. This led to failed appeals. In the end, West picked up around 70,000 votes across the country and admitted defeat on November 4 of that year. Although he lost, he dropped hints about running again in 2024.
The 2024 campaign and controversy
In November of 2022, Ye got ready to kick his presidential dreams again, officially announcing his candidacy for president. However, at that time, his campaign was overshadowed by controversy.
By late 2023, reports surfaced indicating that West’s campaign had become largely inactive, with legal representatives stating he was no longer actively pursuing the presidency.
Bhad Bhabie’s comment have reignited discussions about Ye's previous campaigns. His name has kept sparking all kinds of conversation, silly debates, and hilarious memes on social media.
