In a rare glimpse of the time when Taylor Swift was not yet a star, a Tennessee estate and recording complex owner reminisces about when The Tortured Poets Department pop star stopped by to record her first album.
While speaking to People Magazine, Robin Crow, who owns the Dark Horse Estate in Franklin, Tennessee, revealed that Swift visited the recording studio on the estate as a young 15-year-old artist to record parts of her debut album.
Remembering when Swift was at his recording complex, Crow spoke to People Magazine, saying,
“At the time, I think I met her once or twice in the couple of weeks that she was recording here, and I never gave it a second thought. And now, she's the biggest artist in the world.”

Crow mentioned that artists like Shawn Mendes and Kings of Leon have also recorded at his estate and continued,
“I've seen record companies throw so much money behind an artist and nothing will happen. Then you have another situation like Taylor Swift, and it's just magic and everything kind of lines up.”
According to Crow's Airbnb listing, the recording complex has also hosted other country stars such as Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, and Tim McGraw.
Which album did Taylor Swift record at the Tennessee estate?
According to CMT.com, Taylor Swift signed a publishing contract with Sony/ATV Music at the age of 14, after she left a development deal with RCA Records. As stated by the country music news website, Swift then signed with Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records in 2005 and recorded her debut album over four months.
The debut album, Taylor Swift, was released in 2006, according to Radio Times.

The album reached No. 5 on the Billboard charts, and in its 157th week on the Billboard 200, it remained at No. 60.
One of Swift's early songs, "The Outside," was written when she was only 12 years old. In 2006, Swift spoke to CMT.com about how she processed her life through her songwriting. She said,
“I was going through a really tough time in school and facing a lot of rejection among my peers. I found that I was alone a lot of the time, kind of on the outside looking into their discussions and the things they were saying to each other. They really didn’t talk to me. In the process of coming to that realization, I started developing this really keen sense of observation — of how to watch people and see what they did. From that sense, I was able to write songs about relationships when I was 13 but not in relationships.”
Swift also shared her experience of recording her first album with the country music website. She mentioned,
“So I got to record with a bunch of really awesome producers in Nashville. But it didn’t sound the way that it did with Nathan [Chapman]. He had never made an album before. He had just recorded demos. But the right chemistry hit. Finally my record label president said, ‘OK, try some sides with Nathan.’”
The Franklin estate, where it is said that Swift recorded part of her debut album, is available on Airbnb. Fans can rent the property to have an authentic Taylor Swift experience.
