Kentrell DeSean Gaulden goes by a few rap names, NBA YoungBoy or YoungBoy Never Broke Again. He is a 25-year-old American rapper who has released eight independent mixtapes and even gained success within his region. After working with famous rappers and artists such as Juice Wrld, his fame grew, and some of his songs even made it to the Billboard Top 100.
However, Gaulden has a long history of criminal activity, starting from 2014 when he was arrested for robbery until as recent as 2024. In 2024, he was arrested for possession of illegal substances, identity theft, and possession of a deadly weapon. NBA YoungBoy has been in and out of jail since 2014.
The latest update regarding Gaulden's prison time is that he will be moved to the Phoenix Halfway House in Salt Lake City. NBA YoungBoy is set to be released on April 26, 2025, and this decision to move him was made on March 25, 2025. There are rumors that YoungBoy is expected to go on tour after he is released.

NBA YoungBoy was initially set to be released on July 27, 2025, however, the date has been moved up to April 26, 2025. No exact information has been provided as to why his release date has been preponed. Before releasing Gaulden, he is set to stay at the Phoenix Halfway House in Salt Lake City for 30 days. This information is taken from a report from Fox8live.com.
After his last arrest, he sought legal help from Atlanta lawyer, Drew Findling. With his assistance, Gaulden agreed to a plea deal, which got him a 23-month sentence.
Besides moving to the Halfway House, My Mixtapez (@mymixtapez) has also reported by posted on their X account that YoungBoy will be on a 60-month probation. They even listed a few restrictions that NBA YoungBoy is expected to follow.
NBA YoungBoy is expected to do up to six drug and alcohol tests every single month throughout his probation period. He will not be allowed to communicate with any gangs or gang members. He cannot get any gang-related tattoos or purchase/possess any gang-related items.
Gaulden has to be careful regarding his clothing as well. He cannot have any clothes that have gang symbols or make any reference to gangs via his attire. Another additional expectation from Gaulden is that he must complete his treatment, which includes taking all the medications that were prescribed to him.
Despite being in prison, YoungBoy is still releasing music. His latest release is a compilation album that includes 20 tracks. The songs heavily focus on his life and struggles. It was released a few weeks ago on March 7, 2025, and is available for download online.
With just one month to go and rumors swirling around that YoungBoy will be going on tour after he is released, fans are excited to see the Louisiana rapper perform again. Note that nothing has been confirmed from Gaulden's side as of now.
