Katy Perry isn’t letting critics dim her cosmic glow.

Fresh off her April 14 space flight with an all-women crew on Blue Origin, Perry touched down in Mexico City to launch The Lifetimes Tour on Wednesday. During her performance, the pop superstar appeared to address the backlash surrounding her galactic adventure, asking the crowd:

“Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?”

Still riding the high from her journey, Perry also took a moment to recognize two fans who showed up dressed for the occasion — and coincidentally apt to her recent milestone.

“I want these gentlemen to come on stage because they are dressed like my most current timeline.”

For Perry, the Blue Origin mission, which was funded by Jeff Bezos, was an “important moment" for commercial space travel and for women.

Unfortunately, not everyone found the cosmic leap inspiring.

Environmental activist slams Katy Perry’s Blue Origin flight as “faux feminism”

Criticism of Katy Perry’s Blue Origin trip continues to mount, with voices across social media, and even among celebrities and influencers, calling out the 11-minute journey, which came with a hefty but undisclosed price tag.

Among the voices of dissent was the environmental activist/influencer Laura Young. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she explained why she found the mission disappointing.

“Any celebrity space flight would get backlash, but it was tough seeing this mission framed as groundbreaking when it lacked depth. And ironically, the fact it was all women made the criticism sting more, because we all hoped it would be more meaningful.”

Young, who mentors young girls working toward Eco Awards through sustainable initiatives, said she saw the trip as a missed opportunity to inspire real change.

“I thought it was lovely that Katy brought a daisy for her daughter. But Daisy might learn more about protecting the planet by joining Rainbows and earning her Eco Award. Inspiration doesn't have to leave the atmosphere. It can start right here, in your local community.”

She also questioned the environmental cost of the launch, despite Blue Origin’s claims that the emissions were mainly water vapor.

“We’re being told to recycle, cut down on flying, and lower our carbon footprints – and then we watch celebrities rocket into space for under 11 minutes. Even if Blue Origin says it's just water vapour, that still has consequences for our atmosphere and climate.”

Further, the climate activist said that the voyage felt like “a glossy PR moment” with “zero scientific significance.”

“It was sold as empowering, but it didn’t really show the work or the expertise behind real progress in these fields. It felt like faux feminism – style over substance.”

Emily Ratajkowski shares unfiltered take on the Blue Origin space launch

Even model-actress-author Emily Ratajkowski weighed in on Katy Perry’s Blue Origin trip — and she didn’t hold back. In a TikTok video, she aired her reaction to the flight, saying:

“That space mission this morning? That’s end-time s**t. Like, this is beyond parody.”

She went on to call out the apparent contradiction:

“Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?”

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has officially launched her The Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City. Her setlist features fan-favorite hits, including California Gurls, Hot N Cold, Part of Me, E.T., Teenage Dream, and more.
