English singer Lily Allen looked back on her previous comments on Katy Perry’s Blue Origin flight mission. On the April 17, 2025, episode of the Miss Me? podcast, Allen severely criticized the Blue Origin mission.

Lily Allen questioned the point of the trip and didn’t see any valid reason for it. Referring to Katy Perry and others involved, she seemed baffled by why they went to space for just 12 minutes and didn’t understand the purpose behind it. However, on the April 28, 2025, episode of the same podcast, she said:

“I would actually like to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week.”

Lily Allen went on:

“There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalized misogyny. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her... I disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn’t the only person that did it. She was possibly the most famous and the one that divides people the most.”

Lily Allen admitted that she had chosen to speak about Katy Perry in a way she now regretted. She said that if the roles were reversed and someone from her own industry had used her name like that, she would have been hurt too.

She apologized to Perry during the episode. Concerning the Blue Origin flight mission, Allen had previously said:

“The only one who really should be congratulated is the rocket scientist called Aisha Bowe. There’s also a civil rights activist, Amanda Nguyễn.”

Besides Lily Allen, Olivia Munn also commented on Katy Perry’s Blue Origin flight mission

Lily Allen criticized the timing of the space trip, pointing out that it happened while many people were dealing with financial hardship and struggling to afford basic needs. She questioned why such a trip was necessary during such a difficult time.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry shared multiple Instagram posts since the flight. On April 15, she posted a video of how the Earth looks from space. She captioned it:

“One day when you’re older, will YOU still look up in wonder? Still processing this incredible journey. Thank you @blueorigin and to my space sisters, taking up space AND making room in space for all – 143.”

The space mission was subjected to criticism not only from Lily Allen but also from other personalities. For instance, actress Olivia Munn, while speaking on Today With Jenna & Friends recently, said:

“What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous. Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail recently reported Katy Perry didn’t regret going to space and found the experience deeply meaningful. However, she did feel uneasy about the public attention it received. A source said she wished it hadn’t turned into such a spectacle.

Fellow passenger Gayle King shared that Perry eventually sang What a Wonderful World during the trip after turning down requests for her hit songs, saying she wanted the moment to be about something bigger than herself.
