Selena Gomez is in her lover-girl era, and she’s putting it all on the record. With the help of songwriter Kiddo A.I., the singer-actress romance with fiancé Benny Blanco came to life.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Kiddo spoke about Gomez’s Sunset Blvd, a track from her collaborative studio album I Said I Love You First with her producer fiancé.

The songwriter dished on the spontaneous spark that lit up the project’s standout tracks.

“It really came out of nowhere. I think Benny or [songwriter] Michael Pollack was playing the keys, and we all just started singing this hook melody.”

Kiddo also recalled the writing session that turned into something special, both musically and personally. And then came the line that pulled it all together.

“I don’t remember who said ‘Sunset Blvd,’ but it just made so much sense because then Benny and Selena were like, ‘Wait, that’s where we had our first date.’”

That casual mention of a street name unlocked something deeper, transforming the song into a heartfelt tribute to the couple’s real-life relationship milestone. The writing session didn’t take long to blossom into a full song.

“It was great to be able to help them say what they wanted to say. We wrote it in, I think, an hour. It basically wrote itself.”

Just like that, a love story was immortalized in a song, straight from the heart.
