Chappell Roan has chosen Drew Simmons of Foundations Music as her manager.
Simmons took to Instagram on Monday to announce the news, having penned in a statement, “Thrilled to be working with Chappell Roan — it’s an honor to welcome her to Foundations." He is most known for being the manager of Noah Kahan, Laufey, and Rebecca Black.
Fans have since begun responding to the news with varied reactions on X. One user, for instance, tweeted a question that aptly described the reactions online:
"is this good or bad"
The comments didn't end there:
"they must’ve given her a good deal," one user speculated.
"Her career is over. When you're signing to the same management as Rebecca Black you're close to being finished," another naysayer chimed in.
"She's definitely going the indie route, then. Big nostalgia-pop anthems are likely on the downswing, and indie sounds are crashing back into the pop word like a ton of bricks," someone else claimed.
"Oh Choppell…..it’s over already," yet another echoed.
Even more chimed in to speculate about the trajectory of Chappell Roan's career now that she has a new manager:
"Exciting! Chappell Roan joining such a talented lineup," one fan exclaimed.
"Big news for Chappell Roan! Signing with Foundations Music alongside talents like Noah Kahan and Laufey is a huge step. Can’t wait to see what’s next for her—congrats!" someone else chimed in.
"The MID-music-making-western princes is about to fall lmaooo im crine," another naysayer penned.
"Guys Drew is an EXCELLENT manager and the whole crew are so amazing. This is a good thing," yet another asserted.
Users were visibly divided upon learning of the news, with many noting that this might be a good thing for the songstress.
Everything we know about Chappell Roan's contract with Foundations Music:
As reported by Variety, Foundations Music's official website features a landing page to welcome Chappell Roan, and representatives for the latter confirmed the news to the outlet.
The company was founded in 2001 and boasts a clientele that includes Kahan, Laufey, Rebecca Black, Wilder Woods, and Gabe Simon. Simmons previously worked at Red Light Management before he teamed up with Steve Bursky, Brian Winton, and Max Credinger at his current company.
As for Roan, the singer was previously managed by State of the Art’s Nick Bobetsky, whom she had been working with since 2018. However, following her Grammy nominations for album of the year, record, song of the year, and best new artist in November 2024, the latter of which she was awarded, she sacked her manager.
Chappell Roan released her long-awaited country debut, The Giver, last month. It debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and dominated the outlet's Hot Country Songs chart.
