X has long been a ‘safe space’ for Kanye West to vent out his frustrations. The subject of his ire has ranged from his former friends, collaborators, and gatekeepers within music and fashion, whom the rapper perceives to have slighted him at some point in his career. There is a darker side to his rhetoric in recent years that includes his views on race and gender.
In his latest spree on X, West addressed several topics, including his thoughts on his past collaborators T-Pain and Jay-Z, the latter of whom has been the subject of several of West's tweets as of late. The most confounding of all was his epiphany that he ultimately does not define himself as a N*zi in the deleted tweet, despite loudly proclaiming himself to be for the past few months.
“Okay I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a N*zi And hopefully you guys have come to the realization that I can and will say whatever the f**k I feel like whenever the f**k I feel like it”
Kanye no longer seems willing to go down with the ‘N*zi ship,' but the most telling part of the tweet is that, regardless, he is past the point of ever censoring his own thoughts again, no matter the outcome.
More on Kanye’s most recent comments on X about his former collaborators
Prior to the quote denouncing himself as a N*zi, West put a lot of interesting thoughts into the ether about his past collaborators.
Kanye first paid tribute to T-Pain for his recent Coachella performance. West began by sharing that, “T PAIN AT COACHELLA MADE ME SMILE." He went on to add that “THE SONGS ARE TIMELESS” and “I WISH I SAW IT IN REAL” before ruminating about playing alongside T-Pain on one of the world’s biggest stages, “COULD YOU IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE WE COULD DO GOOD LIFE AT THE SUPERBOWL”. Good Life, which features T-Pain, was famously released on West’s third studio album, Graduation, and T-Pain is said to have recorded several pieces for the album, which Kanye later repurposed and used on the record himself.
Subsequently, Kanye addressed former friend and collaborator Jay-Z, whose deteriorating relationship with West has seemingly provoked Kanye’s vitriol towards him and his family. West was hurt by Jay-Z’s comments about wearing the MAGA hat and chose not to stand by as Kanye did his best impression as the world’s most stubborn contrarian.
“Why did Jay Z have to say “no red hat” on Jail That s**t tore me to my soul We fought about it and he told me either leave that line on there or take my verse off Me wearing the red hat was the most stand out example of me going against “the program” Do you guys think he was instructed to say that ?”
Kanye also seems to believe there is a real chance his former ally was silenced by higher powers, which inevitably circles back to his views on who those higher powers may in fact be.
Overall, his tone seems to have become somewhat less manic, although with West's mercurial nature, it's truly impossible to predict what to expect next from the most divisive artist today.
