Kanye West made bold statements saying that he didn't need to hear Kendrick Lamar on Playboi Carti’s new album I AM MUSIC.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye, bluntly made a bold statement that has left the hip-hop community in shock. After the release of Playboi Carti's new album, Ye took to X to make his opinion known. He said:
“I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC” he continued,“HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.”
The I AM MUSIC album is a long-awaited project that came out this past Friday and features many A-list musicians besides Lamar. The release is coming after Carti's last album, WHOLE LOTTA RED, in 2020.
Though Kendrick and Ye have never publicly fueded, this development could be a new chapter as both rappers represent opposing pillars of the rap community. Ye, however, has collaborated with Carti in the past. Their relationship began with West's contribution to the production of Carti's last album, which included the notable track Go2DaMoon. Since then, they have also worked together on several projects, including tracks from Kanye’s albums Donda and Donda 2 as well as some of Carti's new music.
Fans react: Support & Backlash
As expected, the tweet itself had people torn between supporting Ye and opposing him. Some agreed that Kendrick and Carti don't have styles that flow well together while other's were quick to defend Lamar's reputation.
"FIRST GOOD TAKE IN A MIN LMAOO,"- one user said in support
while another said,- "YOURE THE REALEST N**GA ON EARTH. ON MY SOUL. I BEEN SAYING THIS SH*T BRO."
One netizen replied,- "Trying to artificially create a issue is very clout chasy..... You liked his music when he was on No More Parties in LA. Or when you wanted to piggy back on the Like That song. The playbook of trying to be the most abrasive and controversial is getting old."
And another also stated,- "Often will compare Kendrick to Ye, Ye's lyrics connect and have sticking power. Kendrick raps will skill and style but it's mostly just a flowery presentation that rolls over you like water - limited 'sticking power'. Ye connects, provokes and inspires."
They also brought up Kanye's old tweets where he seems to be admiring Lamar's art and influence. All in all the backhanded compliment from Ye left quite a few fans questioning.
