Kelsea Ballerini who was married to Morgan Evans for five years, before their divorce, has come to his defense after concertgoers yelled obscenities about Evans. The incident occurred on 23 February, during Ballerini's concert at Hard Rock Live, Florida.
In a video posted on TikTok, the country singer is seen singing her hit song, Penthouse, when she stops to address the situation. As the singer sang the line, "And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half," someone in the crowd allegedly shouted something inappropriate, prompting her response:
"F**k you, Morgan"
The singer responded to it:
"Guys, we have to stop saying that. Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now. I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please."
She continued before resuming her concert:
"All right, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?"
This apparent anger among fans might stem from the fact that the song is from Ballerini's latest album, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, which is rumored to be inspired by her publicized divorce.

Kelsea Ballerini and her fellow country singer, Morgan Evans, met in 2016, during Australia's Country Music Channel Awards where both co-hosted the event. Just a few months later they got engaged, and eventually tied the knot in 2017 in Mexico. However, after five years of marriage, the couple decided to part ways. Ballerini confirmed the news of the split through a message on her Instagram story. She said:
“I’ve always tried to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce.”
She further added:
