The 83-year-old singer-songwriter, Paul Simon, is back on stage.
Reports suggest that the artist once feared he would never perform live again due to sudden and severe hearing loss. However, he kicked off his 2025 North American tour on Friday night, April 4, 2025, in New Orleans. This intimate concert series is named A Quiet Celebration Tour.
It is Paul Simon's return to live performance after a two-year hiatus and nearly seven years since his last major tour in 2018, Consequence reports. The show opened at the Saenger Theater, where Simon performed an acoustic 19-song set that was featured through two different acts.
It began with his latest album, Seven Psalms, and closed with reimagined versions of some of his most beloved songs. Paul Simon had previously announced his retirement from touring in 2018. In 2023, while recovering from a bout of COVID, the singer suddenly lost most of the hearing in his left ear. Reports claim that he admitted the experience left him unsure whether he would ever sing on stage again.
