Rapper Cam’ron, aka Cameron Ezike Giles, had a few words for Kanye West. On April 8, 2025, he joined the You’re Welcome Network for a podcast with Sen City, where he discussed West’s recent interview with DJ Akademiks following his X rants.

Cam'ron reflected on the interview, saying that Kanye West had always made bold and controversial statements, even in the past, like when he criticized George Bush. He believed it seemed more extreme because West no longer had access to major platforms.

Instead, his interviews appeared on smaller outlets, as many bigger ones did not give him space to share his views. Cam’ron continued:

“If Kanye could still be on these outlets on national television he would never reach out to Akademiks. He would never reach out to Justin. He would never do Drink Champs. He has to go where he can be seen and it's getting more quiet but as far as what he said none of that sh*t surprised me. This the sh*t he been doing.”

Cam'ron argued that it was a smart move because it showed Kanye West in an unfiltered way. From the moment Akademiks arrived at the hotel, West seemed calm and spoke casually.

However, once the cameras started rolling, he switched to his public persona. After the interview ended, he went right back to speaking casually again. Cam’ron pointed out that Kanye West knew how to act depending on the situation. Giles said:

“But Akademiks was smart to see that it's a character so that's what I thought of it.”

Cam'ron thinks Kanye West is not happy with his life

Sen City shared that he felt uncomfortable and disappointed when Kanye West brought up Jay-Z’s children, especially since it involved speculation about their health. He admitted he wasn’t sure if the claims were correct and thought it was unnecessary and hurtful.

Cam’ron agreed, adding that talking about someone else’s kids, especially without knowing the story, was unnecessary. He also mentioned that while West often talked about being wealthy, he didn’t seem happy. He added:

“I'm just saying you when's your last work and your last work is not as big as Kendrick's last work. I get it. I understand you think you're being black out here and so on and so forth. I get it but sometimes the narcissist and in people all of us all of us in the world include have a little narcissism.”

Cam'ron felt that some of Kanye West's comments, especially his criticism of artists like Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z, were unnecessary and over the top. He said he didn’t know what was happening between Kanye and artists like Playboi Carti or Travis Scott, so he stayed out.

He also brought up how West recently expressed both admiration and resentment towards Drake, describing him as someone he felt very close to in the industry but also had mixed emotions about.

When asked about the interview, Cam’ron explained that Kanye West’s behavior wasn’t surprising, as he had been acting like this for years. However, the difference now was that West no longer had access to the big platforms he once did, like CNN or MSNBC.
