SZA really knows how to have a good day, and she revealed her tricks during her visit to Sesame Street. There, she joined Elmo, Gabrielle, and Abby Cadabby in singing a sweet track to spread the message of gratitude and kindness through its catchy, feel-good lyrics.
In a video published on April 10, the Grammy winner is seen writing on a piece of paper when Elmo and his pals appear. The Muppets asked her what she was doing, and SZA replied that she was “adding this picture to my gratitude jar,” referring to the container on the table.
The “Love Galore” songstress went on to explain that “a gratitude jar is a place where you can put words or pictures of things you’re grateful for.”
When Abby Cadabby asked her what she uses the jar for, SZA answered:
“Sometimes when you feel sad or have other really big feelings, it can be easy to forget the things that we’re thankful for. So the jar helps us remember.”
Earning a nod from the Muppets, SZA began singing the dulcet “Be Kind to Me, Be Kind to You,” with lyrics that encourage kindness and positivity:
“If you’re solving a puzzle / But it’s taking too long / To figure out / Where all the pieces belong / Be kind to yourself / Don’t stop having fun / Be proud of the job / That you’ve already done”
Singing in chorus, the “All the Stars” crooner is then joined by Elmo and friends.
“Be kind to me, be kind to you / Being kind is how I show my gratitude / Kindness can change the way you feel / Gratitude’s the right attitude”
SZA is the latest guest on Sesame Street, following Reneé Rapp’s appearance last January. In March, Noah Kahan also popped up to spend time with Elmo and his pals.
Chris Stapleton is set to make an appearance in July.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “luther” keeps its Hot 100 crown for 7 weeks
Kendrick Lamar’s “luther,” which SZA featured in, continues to dominate Billboard’s Hot 100 chart as No. 1 for seven consecutive weeks. The 2024 smash hit, which samples Luther Vandross’ voice at the outset and in between, is the “longest Hot 100 command for a rap hit” in over four years, according to the publication.
Regarded as a standout track from the GNX album, "luther" explores themes of love and protection as Lamar raps about his devotion to his partner. SZA then harmonizes with the rapper, which strengthens the narrative of tenderness.
Meanwhile, the milestone comes ahead of the duo’s performance at the Grand National Tour in Minneapolis on April 19, which marks their first-ever co-headlining stadium tour across North America.
The tour will make stops in 21 cities across North America, including major venues like Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
