Swedish rock band Ghost has officially announced their sixth studio album, 'Skeletá.' It is set to be released on April 25, 2025, via Loma Vista Recordings.

Alongside the album announcement, the band has introduced a new frontman, Papa V Perpetua. With this, the band is continuing its tradition of new personas with each era.

To add to the announcement, Ghost has released the lead single 'Satanized' from the upcoming album. The track is accompanied by a music video that gradually unveils Perpetua. Additionally, fans can participate in 'The Satanizer,' an interactive experience that transforms them into characters from the music video.

With a world tour set to begin in April 2025 and a first-time headlining show at Madison Square Garden, 'Skeletá' might become one of the band's most beloved projects yet.

Ghost's latest frontman - Papa V Perpetua

Ghost's frontmen are portrayed by mastermind Tobias Forge under a new persona. Papa V Perpetua takes forward this tradition. It replaces Papa Emeritus IV, the face of the band's previous album, 'Impera.'

Hints about the new frontman surfaced in 2023 when the band released their concert film 'Rite Here Rite Now, ' FAR OUT reports. Speculation among fans grew after billboards reading "V is coming" appeared. It eventually led to the reveal of Papa V Perpetua in the 'Satanized' music video.

Perpetua’s look takes a turn from previous Papas. He wears a blue cassock and a metal mask that gives off a relatively robotic aura.

An official X (formerly Twitter) post from the Ghost band dropping the 'Satanized' MV read:

"We wish to inform you that with just a few plumes of smoke our PERPETUAL state of anticipation has subsided. We learned patience is key to opening any door in life. Let us celebrate the crowning of Papa V Perpetua and the announcement of Ghost's six-six-sixth psalm, Skeletá."

It continues:

"Watch the "Satanized" music video; a demonic tale of possession has never sounded this sweet. And don't miss your opportunity to receive the most divine of offerings, pre-order your special copy of Skeletá HERE: https://ghost-official.com/skeleta/ Rejoice, gratification is ours on April 25!"

Tracklist of 'Skeletá'

Ghost refers to 'Skeletá' as their 'six-six-sixth psalm, ' which is a nod to their occult imagery. While, per many, past albums of Ghost often explored historical and religious narratives, the latest album is described as introspective, delving into "one-on-one dialogues with the self."

The tracklist includes ten songs, which are as follows:

  • Peacefield
  • Lachryma
  • Satanized
  • Guiding Lights
  • De Profundis Boreali
  • Cenotaph
  • Missilia Amori
  • Marks of the Evil One
  • Umbra
  • Excelsis

The Satanizer

Ghost's 'Skeletá' takes things a step further with 'The Satanizer, ' a personalized music video experience. Fans can upload their photos and have themselves digitally featured in the "Satanized" video. It was developed by Jason Zada. 'The Satanizer' allows fans to share their transformed selves across social media.

As the Skeletour 2025 approaches, all eyes are on Ghost to see how this next chapter unfolds.
