The American Music Awards are one of the largest musical award ceremonies in the United States, which will air live from Las Vegas on May 26, 2025. The nominations were revealed on April 23, 2025, according to Billboard-recorded statistics. For the fourth year in a row, genre-specific awards span a broad spectrum of music, including pop, hip-hop, country, Afrobeats, and K-pop.

This year, solo K-pop musicians are set to make a grand debut at the American Music Awards. With their 2024 solo albums, Jimin and RM of BTS, Rosé of BLACKPINK, and others set new benchmarks for non-group performers, earning them honors.

Korean musicians have their segment under the Favorite K-Pop Artist category. The following are this year's nominations:

ATEEZ

After signing with KQ Entertainment in 2018, the eight-member boy band ATEEZ became known as "Global Performance Idols" in Korean media.

As is characteristic of the fourth generation of K-pop, the group has soared to fame with stunning world tours and top-charting EPs like Golden Hour: Part. 1. The hard work of ATINY and the influence the group has had on American music charts are both validated by their AMA nomination.

ROSÉ

With Bruno Mars, Rosé of BLACKPINK shared a nomination for Collaboration of the Year for their song APT. She is also nominated for Favorite K-Pop Artist.

Her 2024 solo debut EP, rosie, which topped charts worldwide, has drawn affection and acclaim from fans and reviewers in the Western music industry, thereby reflecting this double nomination.

RM

RM, the leader of BTS, gained international acclaim last year with his solo album Right Place, Wrong Person, which included reflective lyrics.

Apart from BTS's group achievements, his nomination emphasizes the industry's recognition of his own skill and songwriting talents.

Stray Kids

Stray Kids, a self-produced music sensation with many distinctions on the Billboard charts, has been nominated for Favorite K-Pop Artist at the American Music Awards, contributing to their rising fame.

The band's popularity in the US was confirmed by their albums Rock-Star and MAXIDENT the previous year and their sold out tours.

Jimin

Though many know him as a BTS member, Jimin started his solo career in 2023 with the EP FACE. Upon release, it reached number one on Billboard's World Albums chart and went on to become a viral hit in 2024.

Receiving a nomination for an American Music Award highlights how unique he is when not performing with a group and how well-liked solo K-pop albums are becoming in America.

Nominees in the K-pop category of the 2025 American Music Awards showcase the genre's progress in the US. Performances by established groups like Stray Kids and ATEEZ, as well as revolutionary soloists like Jimin, RM, and Rosé are loved in the country and are being encouraged.

These artists are well-positioned to not just battle for awards but also to confirm K-pop as an art form on one of the most visible fan-voted platforms in America. As the clock ticks down to May 26, vote for your favorite artist.
