Why was Alicia Villarreal and Paquita la del Barrio's concert canceled?

Alicia Villarreal and Paquita la del Barrio were set to have a concert together in 2020. The concert was a reflection of the two artists' excellence and their friendship.

Weeks before the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the two artists announced a concert at the Mérida Carnival. However, they unexpectedly canceled it and left their fans wondering. The concert was scheduled for February 24, 2020, but hours before Villarreal and Barrio were set to step on the stage, it was canceled.

According to PorEsto, the Mérida Carnival Committee reportedly blamed the company GUMD Entertainment for the inconvenience.

Besides this, it was also reported that low ticket sales were the reason behind the cancelation of the concert. After the incident, Barrio never had a concert in Yucatán. On the other hand, Villarreal attended the Yucatán Xmatkuil 2024 Fair.
