Matt Pinfield gave his followers a quick health update after suffering a stroke and coma in February 2025. The American television host and former MTV VJ posted on Instagram on Saturday, April 26, that he would be coming back to the screens by hosting the Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame event on May 1, 2025. The rock band will be receiving its star after a long wait.

Although Matt Pinfield's health update was short on Instagram, it evoked a sense of strength and resilience. He posted a screenshot of an article announcing that he would be hosting the ceremony despite suffering a stroke and a coma for two months. He wrote:

"Slowly but surely recovering..lots of physical therapy..Fighting my way back!! One day at a time."

For those planning to watch the Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. You can tune in at 11:30 a.m. PT on the official Hollywood Walk of Fame website.

Matt Pinfield reflects on his recovery journey post-coma

Pinfield first suffered a stroke on January 6, 2025, and according to reports, by the end of the month, he was

"incapable of moving or making cognitive decisions."

After Matt Pinfield woke up from his two-month-long coma, he shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter. He said:

"Guys, I’m alive... I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months. Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again," the 63 year old host shared.

He also mentioned how his daughter Jessica was the one who saved his life and "protected him". While he was in a coma, his daughters stepped in to take control of his medical and financial decisions. Both his daughters, Jessica and Maya, were suspicious of their father's girlfriend. There are alleged claims that she might have ulterior motives since she wants to take over his house and belongings.

While Matt is getting ready and resting for the big event on May 1, 2025, this is not the first time Pinfield has had a brush with death. Back on December 3, 2018, he was in an accident with a car that was going 40 miles per hour. Matt was crossing the road to his house when it hit him. He had major head injuries and broke his leg in two places, but he recovered and came back strong. Matt seems to be doing the same thing this time, determined to "fight" his "way back" once again.
