Mariah Carey gives a shady response when asked about Addison Rae’s upcoming album.

Iconic singer and the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, slyly shaded upcoming pop star Addison Rae. The starlet who has been making waves and is preparing for her debut album has claimed quite a few times in the past how big a fan she is of the Obsessed singer. However, when Mariah was asked her thoughts on Addison’s upcoming album, she gave an aloof yet iconic answer,

“I don’t know her.”

But that's not all, as this answer created maybe an awkward situation. According to a resurfaced clip of Addison on the Jimmy Fallon show, the two had interacted before. In the clip, Rae tells Jimmy about how she once FaceTimed Carey over Christmas, and she sang All I Want for Christmas over the phone. She ended the anecdote by saying how Mariah is one of her favorites.

Fans reacted to Mariah Carey's response

While most thought the response was quite iconic on the singer's part, some people actually faced the same issue as Carey, stating they didn't know her either.

"Literally mariah does not know who she is. literally," one user stated.
Another agreed, "Yah why would she, Mariah is an icon who is nearly 60 and this girls music is for teens maybe 20 somethings why would Mariah know her unless they were going to do a collab of some kind"
"lol I don't know her too," one netizen also claimed.
One fan also commented, "Same Mariah. I don't know her either."
However, one user played a different angle, "Whenever an artist does that, it's because he feels threatened."

Mariah Carey's studio album, 2005's The Emancipation of Mimi, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and for its celebration, the singer has been busy with her residency in Las Vegas at Dolby Live that kicked off in April 2024. Not only that, to continue the festivities, the singer is also going on a mini tour,

"We're taking The Celebration of Mimi worldwide! I can't wait to see you all during this special anniversary year of the Mimi album more dates to be announced soon!"

The tour is set to kick off in Shanghai, China, on May 16, followed by another show in Shanghai on the 17th. To further honor this iconic album, which features songs like We Belong Together and Shake It Off and collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Twista, and so on, Mariah Carey also released a remix of the song Don’t Forget About Us on 11th April with Haitian-Canadian music producer and rapper Kaytranada.
