Tyla released Push 2 Start on October 25, 2024, as a track on the deluxe version of her eponymous studio album. The song blends elements of R&B, Reggae, Pop and Amapiano. It debuted at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The first music video saw the South African singer and her dancers surrounded by flashy cars as they danced around the set. The visuals also embraced a sultry theme as the dancers use soap and water on the cars and on themselves driving home the lyrics’ double entendres.

The video was directed by Aerin Moreno and boasts 61 million views on YouTube. The remix featuring Sean Paul was released in February 2025. The duo go back and forth in the song and complement each other’s vibe. Sean Paul’s reggae vocals artfully contrast Tyla’s Amapiano sound.

A part of the chorus reads:

“Act like you heard me/ Only serve it up if you dеserve me, yеah/ Girl, my love is worth it/ Press it up, gyal, push to start (Pusha, pusha)/ Act like you heard me,”

The remix was produced by Sammy Soso and the songwriters include Tyla, Sean Paul, Mocha Bands, Believve, and Ari PenSmith.
