Playboi Carti 's highly anticipated third studio album, I Am Music, has yet again been postponed. This has sent fans into a frenzy with some even speculating on if the album will ever actually drop. The album was expected to drop on March 14, however, the scheduled time passed without the album being released.

This has caused an uproar of fans on the socials. According to Daily Noud on Twitter, Playboi Carti fell asleep, and forgot to drop the album, to which another user stated:

Fans react and call for action

Fans, though a little disappointed, are holding on to the hope that the album will be out soon. Others, however, sounded disappointed by the delay. These are some of the reactions to the delay:

"Guys just let him take his time we can’t rush greatness." Said one user.
"Great things take time ,we can wait." An optimistic user said.
"I MISSED MY WEDDING FOR THIS CARTI I TRUST YOU! YOU WOULDNT LET ME DOWN!" Lamented one social media user.
"Its not his duty to upload the music files, his record label/management does that lol ." One social media user defended him.

A section of fans who are very vocal, thinking that the delays made by Carti are a form of hearsay, keeping attention on him without actually doing anything.

"Best marketing tactic." commented one social media user.
"So his promotional activities are spot on with this. Hats off to the management!" Opined another

Whereas, some argue that such tactics might prove to be more damaging to his reputation than helpful and risk losing even the most loyal of his listeners.

"Does he think we don’t know how music releases work?" An angry social media user stated.
"Bro, did you really just fall asleep on the 'I Am Music' drop? Wake up and deliver, Carti- fans are out here losing sleep, not you!" Stated one user.

Recent developments and disappointment

In the lead up to the last expected deadline, Carti increased the hype by releasing more singles, including Play This and All Red. The hype went down on 14th March 2025 though, when there was no sign of the album being released and fans started thinking it wasn’t going to happen.

People close to the music industry think that clearance of samples might be responsible for the delays.

Knowing how Whole Lotta Red was rather experimental and split listeners at the time of its release, only to gain a cult following afterwards, Carti could still be trying to make sure that I Am Music has the same impact as Whole Lotta Red.
