Pop icon Beyoncé took a leap of faith when picking a sonic direction for her last project. After much deliberation and developing the confidence that she could do justice to the genre, she released Cowboy Carter, her first full foray into Country music.
The critical response to her decision to pivot musical styles was clear: Beyoncé delivered her version of an art form near and dear to the fabric of what it means to be American in exceptional style. Her prowess and dedication to creating something truly special also earned her ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Country Album’ at this year’s Grammy Awards.
In the latest news involving Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, the former Destiny’s Child lead has earned her first-ever nomination for ‘Favorite Female Country Artist’ at the 2025 American Music Awards. The other nominees in this category include Ella Langley, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney.
Beyoncé: the 2025 AMA’s and beyond
Apart from her nomination for ‘Favorite Female Country Artist’, the Drunk in Love singer is also up for ‘the vaunted prize of Album of the Year’. Her fellow nominees in this category include Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, and Future & Metro Boomin. This esteemed list includes a range of popular artists and speaks to Knowles’s timelessness, as several of her competitors are much younger and also much newer to this level of success and notoriety.
The leader of the Bey Hive is also nominated for ‘Favorite Country Album’. Her competitors in this category are Jelly Roll, Morgan Moroney, Post Malone, and Shaboozey, all of whom put out stand-out, eclectic pieces of work in the past calendar year. It remains to be seen if Beyoncé will be able to sweep the awards in her categories, the way she managed to do earlier this year in February at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Next up for Beyoncé is her Beyoncé Cowboy Carter Tour, which is currently taking place in the United States before a six-performance stint at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in June. From there, she’ll venture to the State de France in Paris for 3 more shows before returning to Houston, Texas, where she’ll perform the final leg of her tour, which will culminate with a performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on July 26.
While Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z have been the subject of several of Kanye West's recent Twitter outbursts, the pair have notably distanced themselves from the mercurial rapper, refusing to even comment on his latest claims.
