“Are we even surprised?”: Netizens react as BTS' Jungkook’s ‘GOLDEN' becomes best-selling album by K-pop soloist in South Korea, with 2.9M sales

On April 17, 2025, @WORLDMUSICAWARD reported that BTS' Jungkook’s GOLDEN emerged as the best-selling album by a K-pop soloist in South Korea. The SEVEN singer’s debut solo record earned this milestone with the sales of over 2.9 million copies in Korea. GOLDEN originally came out in November 2023.

Fans of Jeon Jungkook were delighted with his newest feat. Consequently, his fans flooded the internet with praises for the singer and his album. To express this, one user on X said:

While some referred to Jungkook as a superstar and record setter, others called him ‘Global It Boy.’ Another fan stated that South Korea is a ‘Kookieland.’

Some dubbed him the biggest Asian soloist, while others praised him as a global star. Many seemed proud of Jk’s achievement. A few of them also mentioned him as a history maker.

Jeon Jungkook becomes most-streamed K-pop soloist on Spotify

As per an overview by @AboutMusicYT on Thursday, April 17, BTS' Jungkook was named the most-streamed K-pop solo artist of all time. With more than 8.6 billion streams on Spotify, the Yes or No vocalist took first place.

The debut solo album was released on November 3, 2023. This Korean pop sensation debuted two singles from his next album, 3D (ft. Jack Harlow) and SEVEN (ft. Latto), before the album's official release. GOLDEN features the following tracks:
