South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN recently popped into headlines for their act of charity. On March 27, 2025, Korean media outlet Naver reported that the K-pop band donated around 1 billion KRW to offer aid for victims of wildfire in the country.

Since March 21, 2025, South Korea has been experiencing a devastating wildfire outbreak, with more than 20 distinct blazes burning across the country. As of this writing, 28 fatalities have been reported.

Fans of the boy band were pleased with the group’s charitable act. As a result, they flooded the internet with their appreciation for the boy band. One user on X commented:

Many other fans lauded the boy band's contributions. While some dubbed the group's donations as next-level generosity, others called it a heartfelt gesture.

“That's such a generous and heartfelt gesture by SEVENTEEN! Their support will surely bring hope and relief to those affected. Truly inspiring!” a fan stated.

“What makes me emotional about SVT donating money to various causes is that it's kinda easy to donate when you have a lot of money, but they've been doing this consistently ever since they got their first paycheck,” wrote a fan.

Some claimed that the boy band has donated money consistently for various causes, while others seemed happy about supporting the right people like SEVENTEEN.

“Our lovely and kind SEVENTEEN!! Also really hoping the wildfires get put out soon and that noone gets hurt, especially since I used to live in that area,” a fan commented.

Several K-pop idols donated for wildfire relief alongside SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN was among several K-pop stars who came forward and gave donations to assist the victims. K-pop idols like IU, BTS's J-Hope, RM, Jungkook, SUGA; Aespa’s Karina and Winter; NCT DREAM’s Jaemin; NCT’s Haechan, Cha Eun-woo, Red Velvet’s Selugi, and others.

Many stars of the South Korean entertainment industry also offered help, including Kim Woo-bin, Lee Dong-wook, Han Ji-min, Ahn Jae-wook, Go Youn-jung, Go Min-si, Park Bo-young, Im Siwan, Kim Ji-won, Lim Ji-yeon, Byeon Woo-seok, and Lee Jong-suk, to name a few.

The latest wildfire became the largest one in the history of South Korea. The stream of strong winds in severely dry conditions reportedly led to forest fires. These massive fires caused harm to historical and UNESCO heritage sites like Gounsa Temple and Hahoe Folk Village, respectively.


South Korea is grappling with one of its worst-ever wildfires, which have claimed at least 28 lives and forced over 37,000 people to evacuate their homes. The fires, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, have devastated vast areas, including historic sites like the Gounsa temple complex.
