KPOP group AESPA's member Karina amazed the internet with her benevolent spirit as South Korea dealt with one of the worst fires in history. The wildfires that originated in Sancheong county have covered nearly 36,000 hectares, and 27 people have succumbed to this tragedy.
In support of the firefighters and the hundreds of people affected by this disaster, many K-pop idols and celebrities donated to the cause, including the Up singer. The singer, whose real name is Yoo Ji-min, donated 100 million won through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. She donated 50 million won each for firefighter support and wildfire victim assistance, as was disclosed by the association.
"I feel like there has never been a time when I longed for an ordinary daily life like these days. I sincerely hope that the prolonged wildfires will be resolved quickly, and that all those who have been affected can return to their everyday lives." the singer added, "I express my deep condolences to those who lost their lives due to this wildfire, and I sincerely thank the firefighters who are working tirelessly on the scene day and night."
Shin Hoon, secretary-general of Hope Bridge, made a statement of gratefulness stating:
"We are deeply grateful for her warm solidarity. We will do our best to ensure that this donation can provide great strength and comfort to neighbors who are going through difficult times due to disasters and the heroes on the front lines."
Fans react to Karina's generous gesture
The idol's fans were quick to appreciate her for the donation she has provided, which will essentially go into urgent livelihood support, temporary housing, and relief supplies for residents.
"Aespa's Karina's generous donation of 100 million won to support firefighters and those affected by wildfires highlights her compassion and commitment to giving back to the community in times of crisis,"- one fan said.
Another commented, - "Karina’s generous donation is a powerful reminder of the positive impact celebrities can have beyond their music."

Following the news of her donation, many of her fans are also donating to support the wildfire victims & firefighters.
The fires were first reported on March 21 and since then have spread over Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam. They have also been responsible for destroying acres of public property as well as historical sites such as a 1,300-year-old temple in Uiseong city.
