j-hope previously faced backlash for sharing Doechii’s music on TikTok

On February 3, 2025, j-hope posted a TikTok video using Doechii's song "Denial Is a River." This led to criticism from internet users who believed he was leveraging her music for attention, especially since she had just won Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025.

Besides Doechii, j-hope shared that he found inspiration from Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia tour videos, which fueled his ambition to create better albums and performances. In the interview, when asked about a pivotal moment in his career, he reflected on the release of Jack In The Box in 2022.

He considered it a breakthrough, especially because of the promotions and his first listening party, which allowed him to connect with artists from different genres. Looking back, he felt that experience helped establish his presence in the music industry. He also mentioned his performance at Lollapalooza, calling it a defining moment that reinforced his belief in his music.

Regarding his trip to LA after completing military service, j-hope explained that he had planned the visit to work on music, meet new people, and improve his English. Although things didn’t go exactly as expected, he immersed himself in the culture he loved and used the time to prepare for his return.

He also wanted to collaborate with international producers to align with the musical direction he envisioned. Despite some setbacks, he felt satisfied with the unique projects he could pursue in the U.S.
